Sharing doTERRA oils is the most basic building tool available to the doTERRA Wellness Advocate so if you are not doing it either face to face or online success will be hard to find.

Below I have created a list of some of the best methods of sharing doTERRA with family, friends and the world. As expression I like to use is that their is more than one way to skin a cat. So, being successful in any business means working outside your comfort zone while using existing skills you already have and build on them.

Make a list of everyone you know and would like to share essential oils

This is your “warm market” and it is a great place to start since we naturally want to share valuable information with those closest to us. Reach out to them by sharing samples of oils that have helped you. You can even send some in the mail if they live far away. However, remember when writing your list, do not prejudge who will be interested in essential oils or the business opportunity.

Hold frequent classes

This is the most common approach to building a business in doTERRA, mostly because it’s a great format for not only sharing the oils, but also for teaching about their uses.

A quick tip regarding classes: experience has shown that if you have a classes of ten guests:

  • One will be interested being a customer
  • One will be interested being a wholesale customer  
  • One will be interested being a wellness advocate

Volunteer to bring a dish to your next neighborhood gathering

Use an essential oil recipe and talk about how you made your dish with essential oils when people want to know your secret recipe. Everybody loves food and so sharing essential oil cooking recipes is a power marketing method.

Listen closely to others

When you get past the small talk, people will often talk about what is going on in their lives. Perhaps one of their children is having trouble sleeping or they feel sluggish in the afternoon. Give them your recommendations and a sample if you have one on hand.

Use oils in various ways around your home

If you have people over often, this could be the tip for you. Use your diffuser and fill your home with the scent of your favorite oils, use them as cleaning products or simply have a noticeable place for them in your home. This can help spark curiosity in your guests.

Take oils with you to your child’s sporting events

You never know when your child might need them. In addition, just using essential oils at public events is another great way to share. And, if another child needs them at the event, you have created the perfect sharing opportunity.

Start a group

The approved social media platforms are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Choose one to focus on and share occasional ways that you use the oils in some of your posts. You can even hold classes online.

This method is the one that everyone would like to do, but lacks the skills and knowledge to do so.

I get asked a lot about online marketing and the possibility that someone new to network marketing can build their doTERRA business online. Meet-ups

I am nicking this idea from a guest of my podcasts who suggested having coffee mornings in a local cafe. She has been successful building a doTERRA business with three kids by arranging mother and baby coffee morning and then sharing the oils and business with the group.  

Follow up

When you have already shared with someone, it can seem discouraging when they don’t reach out to you afterward. That’s when you contact them with the intent to see if they used the oil you shared and if you can recommend anything else. The follow up is simply an extension of sharing.
