Qualifications and requirements for a career change at 50

Every career, except the most basic jobs, need some kind of qualification and requirements. Some are easy to qualify for, but others like airline pilots take years of training and flying experience. If you are 55 years old and could pass the physical requirements, it would still take you five years to qualify for the entry-level pilot position The airlines have a mandatory retirement ago of 60. This means that becoming a pilot would not be a logical career option for anyone over 50.

On the other hand if you are 55 and your desire is to be an attorney and it requires three years of additional schooling and passing the bar exam, go for it. But depending on your past career it requires the necessary financial planning to carry it off.

How do I make a career change at 50?

As for myself, I found the whole situation of working for someone and always trying to find a job was a hellish prospect. So, I made a decision that rather than look toward a new career in the job market and become disappointed with the money or the work itself, I would make a change. I took the opportunity to look at what skills I already had and what I could learn quickly at home. Very quickly I realized that working from home and running my own business was the solution. I found that finding an online opportunity was easy and cheap and I was able to get started straight away and instantly I had found my new career.

I found for as little as 35$ I was able to purchase a fully functioning business with a free webshop, free back office and no monthly fee, so literally no outgoings, which was great for anyone who is just starting out. Three years on I am working about 4 hours a day and enjoying my new life with my wife and family. Why I didn’t consider working for myself in the past I do not know but maybe there is a time and place for everything in life.
