In all businesses the importance of empowerment in leadership is what makes the different between success and failure, so next time you meet a team member consider how you intend to empower them.

Empowerment outside the network marketing industry is so important. The goal is to enhance the individual with skills and resources so they have the opportunity to be motivated, develop and advance in their personal and professional lives. However, empowerment comes with being responsible and accountable for their actions. These empowered benefits can contribute to their competence and satisfaction.

In this article I will be sharing my views on empowerment in doTERRA, however this is not a concept that is limited to one MLM company. To become successful people need to be empowered to believe they can be more than they thought they could be. This means walking into the abyss with the confidence that you will succeed. 

It could be argued that empowerment is the sole objective of the business leader and in network marketing the sole objective of every new and subsequent doTERRA consultant with the aspiration to become a leader.

Is the MLM model simply people empowering people?

Arguably yes!

To be successful in any MLM business the consultant should understand that their main role is to empower people in their team and teach them to do the same.

The requirements as a doTERRA consultant who is striving to become a part of the leadership and team builder is relatively simple. You are being asked to make a commitment to yourself and your future downline. This will create a solid and sound foundation that will manifest into a positive and dynamic collaboration in your doTERRA team.

The three fundamental stages of people empowering people are laid out below:

Stage one of doTERRA people empowering people

Firstly, to create a successful and consistently developing downline we need to inspire, excite and arouse our new doTERRA consultants to the point that they are eager to take action and be an active member of their business. This in my opinion is the best recruiting tool you will ever have. Once you have brought about a mental image of what it means to take action in a network marketing company your doTERRA consultants will be empowered, inspired and willing to take action independently.

Stage two – What drives your downline?

Once you understand what drives your prospect to become a doTERRA Consultant you can transport them into their dreams and passions. If not you will find it difficult to motivate them and achieve the goals you both desire for the future. So, understanding your consultants goals, dreams and motivations allows you to create a picture in their mind of what the truly desire. If you see someone in your team struggling you can remind them of the reason they started running a doTERRA home based business in the first place and get them back on track.

Stage three – The empowered benefits of doTERRA Tools

The next stage for empowering a successful doTERRA team is to equip them with tools and skills needed to succeed.

Personally, I start the process with the doTERRA membership and business overview. In addition, use a weekly newsletter and doTERRA video training integrated into multimedia to maximize success. Keeping in touch through Facebook groups is another good way to instantly reward developments and achievements in one’s downline as a form of motivation. This means that we need to be a master teacher for our team if we want them to achieve the same level of success that we have experienced in our own business. You will need to be committed to sharing your hard earned knowledge and experience into each and every doTERRA consultant that joins your team. This process must continue and evolve as technology changes, new skills are needed or developed, abilities are enhanced and the success of your doTERRA consultant has increased.

The final stage in creating a successful and growing downline in doTERRA is empowering in itself.

Empowering people your team means that you are giving them permission to become a successful leader and consultant in their own right. Your team may be tied to you as a leader but should not be dependent upon you. So there should be a process of disconnection so overtime individuals in your downline can function independently and join the leadership.

So, during the training process your team should be taught to think for themselves and to develop into a doTERRA leader independently from you. Once you have empowered your doTERRA downline, you will notice a group synergy in your team which will make your organization grow exponentially. This empowering process simply means that your downline has sufficient confidence, inspiration, motivation and tools to reproduce the same results to their downline.

Committing to a mantra of people empowering people and the three fundamental stages of MLM team empowerment you will have great success building your doTERRA downline.
